Your Health and Wellness, From Head to Toe

Sole Freedom’s Nick St. Louis and Steve Hunter know that your health is a whole-body concern, and your feet play a major role. Nick, a physiotherapist, saw patients over and over again with various health issues and realized that with better shoes, you’d have better feet, and better overall outcomes. This focus on preventative health care continues now, and Sole Freedom sets the foundation.

We exist to help people take better care of their lower bodies, and aren’t simply another shoe store. A huge part of restoring a healthy lower body is moving away from unnatural shoes that disable, damage and deform our feet. Our store offers free education and a huge array of better choices when it comes to footwear.”

Sole Freedom sells barefoot shoes, but is really a foot health company. While their products are available for all ages and occasions, including kids, and goes beyond trendy footwear, you’ll still find the style you want and need.

If the concept of barefoot shoes and footwear is new to you and others in the Ottawa area, browse the Sole Freedom blog for more information, or better yet, visit the store to have your questions directly answered by the passionate and knowledgeable staff.

Steve has a personal attachment to Westboro and likes the like-minded businesses which are in alignment with Sole Freedom’s mission. He loves to work around them.

Clients often return, citing a positive experience as well as transformational products.

Both Steve and Nick have the goal of better, functional feet. They recognized that these shoes were hard to find in Canada, most usually found online from Europe, but trying on shoes is such an important part of the experience. The store, having only opened in 2024, is already finding a footing in Westboro.

They are North America’s largest selection of natural footwear, and proud of it. Plus, they emphasize a positive customer experience too.

They’ve been working hard on studio renovations too, creating a space above the shop for workshops and educational opportunities. They envision Sole Freedom as a community hub for health workshops, in connection with other local professionals, and a heavy focus on preventative support.

Nick and Steve take pride in their hands-on support and education for their customers and see this collaborative approach as a natural fit to Sole Freedom’s work in Westboro.

Between the health hub plans and the store itself, none of this is a surprise given their mission and goals. “We find purpose in helping people improve their lower body health. Growing the business means helping more people free their soles from unnatural shoes which 95% of people are unknowingly wearing. Empowering people to restore better health really excites us.”

Sole Freedom is working to build a foundation for your feet, and body.
