There’s something special about walking into a shop and thinking, “How have I never been here before?”
This May, we’re inviting you to do exactly that.
Shop the Village is your invitation to explore Westboro Village and find your new favourite shop. Whether you’re a local or coming for a day trip, come wander, discover something new, and find those hidden gems you’ll keep coming back to all in one place.
What is Shop the Village?
This is more than a shopping event. It’s a month-long celebration of the people and places that make Westboro Village so special. Our businesses dress up their windows and make our main street a floral fantasy, with whimsical displays popping up around the neighbourhood.
For the month of May, we highlight and celebrate local businesses that everyone knows and loves, along with the hidden gems you’ll be adding to your next Westboro Village itinerary.
Let us know your favourite local shops on Facebook or Instagram, and follow along as we share ours. Make sure to tag us when you snap a pic to share at any of our floral displays along our main street as well!
Need another reason to shop local?
To celebrate our retailers, we’ll be handing out experience booklets with exciting offers curated just for Shop the Village! You can find us at Winston Square on May 23rd for the Barks & Blooms kick-off event at 1 PM. You may be able to find some early ones at the second Farmers Market of the season, just down at Byron Linear Park as well.
Don’t wait – we’re only printing 500 of these booklets and it will be first come, first serve. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Barks & Blooms – May 23rd
We’re introducing some special summer items at this kick-off event! Join us as we celebrate Dog Island Summer – an interactive dog-themed art installation from LeMonde Studio – with goodies, a photobooth for you and your furry friend, and more. Find a human-sized musical fire hydrant, a dog bone bench for you and your pet, a dog-themed music box, and a special dog tag featuring local dogs’ names. Can you spot your dog’s name on there?
Once you’ve tried out the dynamic display, explore Westboro Village as it is adorned with an abundance of blooms.
Find us at Winston Square (399 Winston Ave) from 1 PM to 3 PM. No registration required. Goodies and experience booklets are limited in quantity and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Street Food Showdown – June 6th
You loved it last year, so we’re bringing it back for a second year!
On June 6th, our restaurants will be going head-to-head, showing off their most delicious, handheld street food bites. Get ready to taste them all and cast your vote for the Peoples’ Choice Winner.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Westboro Region Food Bank.
