It is hard to believe it has been a decade since this dead-end street was converted into a small urban plaza in the heart of Westboro Village! To celebrate turning ten, Winston Square has expanded. With recent new development on Winston Avenue, the City of Ottawa worked with the builder to expand the paving so the square could grow north. With the installation of two new planters and financial support from the City of Ottawa, the Westboro Village BIA was able to purchase more tables, chairs and umbrellas. Additionally, we gave the front flower bed a mini facelift with edging and a new planter. Signs were also added to the gates at the north end to welcome pedestrians and cyclists to Westboro Village.
Winston Square was developed by the City of Ottawa with a vision from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 480’s volunteers, and Westboro Village BIA is the proud caretaker of the square. It is the home of the Winston Chandelier and is the perfect place to start your day with a coffee, or end it with a sweet treat.
