Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday – whatever you call it, Westboro Village has your favourite breakfast food to celebrate.

Crêpes from Quelque Chose Pâtisserie.

Pancake dinner

Zak’s Diner
You can’t say breakfast without thinking “Zak’s Diner.” Visit their Richmond Road location to enjoy some flapjack fare with their all-day breakfast menu. Have your choice of blueberry, banana, chocolate chip or plain to satisfy your craving.

Quelque Chose Pâtisserie
This dessert shop does more than macarons. Visit their storefront in Westboro Village to try their sweet or savoury crêpes. Our favourites include the Smoked Salmon with cream cheese and capers for a more savoury bite and the Nutella and Friends, with Nutella spread, strawberries and bananas for a sweet treat.

Gezellig
If you’re in the mood for something a little different, celebrate with Gezellig’s banana bread French toast. This breakfast delicacy is made complete with brown butter and spiced rum caramel. Heads up – brunch is only on weekends, but we’ll take any reason we can get to visit this dining hot spot.

Pancake mix from Mamie Clafoutis.

Celebrating at home

Mamie Clafoutis
If you’re staying in on Pancake Tuesday, visit Mamie Clafoutis for delicious and quick pancake mix that will make you feel like you’ve just finished exploring the streets of New Orleans. Bonus: find more breakfast favourites, like waffles and croissants, in their mixes and frozen options.

The Piggy Market
Did you know this delicatessen and butchery does brunch kits? Pick one up to easily serve up some eggs, Mennonite bacon, brioche and more. Pick up is only Friday and Saturdays, so get your order in soon!

Kitchenalia
In addition to pancake mix, find all the toppings you’ll need for a meal to remember. Pick up maple syrup (or infused flavours like coffee and cocoa) and other amazing toppings, like dulce de leche and pistachio cream.

SconeWitch from SconeWitch.

Prefer something savoury?

The SconeWitch
If pancakes aren’t for you, visit this Ottawa institution’s cozy location on Winston Avenue. Get yourself a SconeWitch – our favourite is the BLT with pesto on the Feta scone, with a side salad – or a sweet scone and jam for a lighter snack.

Pure Kitchen
Find fresh options here to fill your belly and your soul. Our favourite is the Crunch wrap and the Beavertail latte – exclusively at the Westboro Village location.

Churchills
Visit this Westboro Village institution for lunch or dinner fare. Bring friends and split some amazing apps, including jalapeño poppers, wings, calamari and more! Celebrating with a drink? Churchills has a wide variety of cocktails, mocktails and beer to choose from.
