Making fashion fun in Westboro

Shopping doesn’t have to be difficult or challenging. In Westboro since 2008, Three Wild Women is a clothing shop that’s trying to embody the same shopping experience as its name: With a fun take that is custom and personal.

Owner Helen Aikenhead works to help keep that level of enthusiasm entrenched in the shop’s daily mantra. “I want our clients to know that we’re here to make their day better. If we can get a smile/laugh/giggle out of you, it’s been a good day!” She shares, and to meet her you would know she truly means it.

It’s not only the shop that has these vibes. Helen feels it’s also the Westboro area that brings this kind of upbeat and connective energy so the two seem like a perfect match. “I love the small town feel of Westboro.” She adds.

Don’t let the lightheartedness and banter fool you into thinking great care hasn’t gone into the store’s carefully selected products including the clothing lines to unique and stylish accessories. Helen knows her customers well and helps to provide what they are looking for (sometimes before they realize they want it!)

Her typical customers are women aged 40 and older. They aren’t necessarily looking for trends but have their own style and wardrobe needs to fill. Some are retired, others are looking for professional attire or the perfect find to wear to a special event, and some clients turn to Three Wild Women to discover the perfect piece for travel and resort wear.

Canadian Made and Designed

The selection of Canadian Made clothing from brands like Sympli, Charlie B, Joseph Ribkoff, Lasania and Pure Essence is intentional. Much of the clothing in the store is from Canadian brands. Clients can expect this to continue. Part of Helen’s future plans include increasing this area in particular.  “We’d like to grow our online presence and find more Canadian designers.”

Because of the various needs in their lives, Helen knows her clients are looking for comfort, easy care for washability and ease for travel when packing a suitcase or carry-on bag. Affordability is also considered. The store opened in Westboro in 2008 during a recession, so it’s been on Helen’s mind. After years of travelling to supplier shows, and learning more about the different products and brands, she’s curated the store to include a variety of price points that are affordable and mid-range.

A joyful clothing experience

Customer service is a priority, and the staff has been there for quite some time. Customers  get to know them well which makes it even easier for the staff to engage and support a shopping experience – while adding a few laughs along the way.

With years of experience, and decades in Westboro, Helen and the staff at Three Wild Women are on a mission to add some extra joy into their clients’ day, while helping them find the perfect outfit or accessory. Retail therapy has never been this wildly fun, and they plan to keep it that way in Westboro.
