Get ready to ride for an amazing cause! It’s time for Cranksgiving, the ultimate food drive on two wheels. All you need is your trusty bicycle, a lock, and a bag to join in on the fun. And the best part? It’s completely FREE to participate! Just bring $15-$20 to purchase some much-needed food donations, which will go towards supporting Highjinx, an organization that helps our neighbours in need.
But this isn’t just any ordinary food drive. You’ll be hitting the streets of our beautiful city, whether you choose to pedal, jog, or walk, on a quest to find specific items that make up a Thanksgiving dinner spread and more. And once you’ve collected all the goods, we’ll donate them to the city’s most needy. It’s a win-win for everyone!
Cranksgiving is a nationwide event, with nearly 100 cities across the United States participating. In our Nation’s Capital, 2022 marked the inaugural year where we crushed it by raising over 1,200 POUNDS of frozen turkey and fresh fruits and veggies. We couldn’t have done it without your help!
So, what items are we looking for? Frozen turkey, potatoes, sweet potatoes, canned cranberry sauce, canned gravy, oranges, apples, and any sweet treats like pies and cookies. Gather up as many of these as you can and bring them to Clocktower Pub in Westboro on October 1st between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
