You may have passed by this local fave without even knowing it. If it weren’t for the daily line-up of breakfast-lovers, you’d almost miss one of Ottawa’s best breakfasts hidden behind its unassuming exterior.
If you’re not usually someone who is eager to wait in line for anything, we urge you to rethink your position. This tourtiere (pictured) was served on top of eggs as a part of breakfast has been described as “life changing”. Walking into Savoy is like taking an accidental left in Ottawa and winding up in Paris. Pictured here is what may seem like a simple breakfast; however, upon closer inspection, the keen-eyed will note that the eggs have been garnished with crunchy fried pork belly accompanied by perfectly-cooked asparagus, and freshly grated parmesan. One may see ordinary French toast…only to have their minds blown by the brandy and Cointreau batter, and freshly toasted walnuts. You may walk in not-knowing what tempeh is, but you’ll leave loving it; and their tofu scramble will make you forget all about the traditional version.
