We’ve come a long way from the days when Richmond Road was lined with logs and lumber mills and farming was one of the local industries. The view of the Laurentian Mountains (actually the Gatineau Hills) is what attracted families to the area. By 1905, we had a new streetcar line and our population was 500, just enough to qualify us as a police village. For many, Westboro was cottage country.
Today, we are an exciting village with plenty for outdoor enthusiasts, a bold and imaginative shopping and restaurant scene and a place where art of all kinds thrive. Our village continues to grow and develop, but we never lose our sense of neighbourhood. People stop and say hi when they meet on the street.
